Section 1: Australian Association of Chinese Traditional Music Association Launch Ceremony

November 25, 2024, 17:00-18:00

Founded in November 2019, the Australian Association of Chinese Traditional Music Association aims to promote and develop the dissemination and exchange of Chinese national orchestral music in Australia, fostering the fusion and innovation of Chinese folk music with Australia’s multicultural landscape. Through a series of high-quality concerts, academic lectures, and cultural exchange events, the Association seeks to enhance local recognition of traditional Chinese music in Australia, attracting more locals to appreciate, engage in, and perform Chinese folk music.

In addition, the Association is dedicated to nurturing local young musical talent, allowing them to connect with and understand traditional Chinese music culture, thereby creating mutual understanding and cultural exchange between China and Australia.

However, soon after its establishment, the Association entered an unprecedented two-year period of pandemic-related restrictions. Despite quietly organizing and supporting numerous Chinese national orchestral music performances and events, the Association has remained relatively unknown. Thus, this launch ceremony will mark the beginning of a new chapter for Australia’s folk music and arts community. The event will bring together leaders from various fields, musicians, cultural scholars, media representatives, and music enthusiasts to witness this milestone moment.
